So why the keygen?
No slick animation. No corporate loading bar. Just a frantic flicker of the screen and then, a window snapped into existence. It was small, utilitarian, and aggressively ugly. It had a graphic of a skull wearing a top hat, or maybe it was a wizard—on a CRT, the artifacts were hard to read.
