The June 2014 exam took place during a period of transition for the CILS system. While the format has remained largely stable, the 2014 session is often cited as a benchmark for "pre-reform" difficulty. Students who took this exam recall that the listening comprehension ( Ascolto ) and the use of the Congiuntivo Passato (Past Subjunctive) were particular stumbling blocks.

The oral exam consists of two parts: a dialogue with the examiner and an individual monologue based on a chosen prompt.
