Despite the loss, Velez gained respect. Her performance in Round 2 reminded fans why she was signed. At 29 years old, she has time to adjust. Speaking through her coach after the fight, Nathan said:
The opening round saw Nathan attempting to bulldoze through Emerson’s defenses. However, Rocky’s length proved problematic early on. She utilized a "rubber guard" style, keeping Nathan at bay and forcing him to work hard for every inch of progress. Nathan found success when he was able to pin Rocky’s hips to the mat, nullifying her leg attacks. The round was a battle of attrition, with Nathan scoring points through positional dominance, but Rocky showed flashes of danger with submission attempts from the bottom.
By the third round, the momentum shifted toward Bronson. His experience in ground-and-pound tactics allowed him to overcome Emerson’s defensive maneuvers.
