The HP DeskJet 2700 series was released in 2020, ironically the same year Windows 7 reached its “End of Life” (EOL). Because HP focuses on current operating systems, their official support page pushes the “HP Smart” application. This app is designed for Windows 10, 11, and modern mobile OSes. It often refuses to install on Windows 7, leaving users stranded.

They tried to use an HP DeskJet 2700 series printer with Windows 7, but HP officially dropped Windows 7 support for many newer printers (including most of the 2700 line).
